Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh

Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh is the 3rd Vice Chancellor of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB), Gaya. Prior to joining CUSB, Prof. Singh was Vice-Chancellor of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tondon Open University, Prayagraj and Prof. Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University, Prayagraj. He started his career from Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur and worked as Head of the department of Geography, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur. He has been the founder Director of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Research Foundation at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur.
Prof. Singh has about 32 years of rich professional experience in different aspects of teaching, research, administration, training, Research and Development as well as major research projects formulations, both national and international. He has supervised 17 Ph.D. students and one post-doctoral fellow.
Prof. Singh has worked as a Research Associate at the Institute of Geography and Institute for Development Research and Development Policy in Ruhr University, Bochum, Germany for one year in a joint research project titled ‘Urban fringe study of Indian and German cities’ sponsored by DAAD. He has conducted intensive field survey in different parts of Germany as well as the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg under the guidance of Late Prof. K.H. Hottes, Director, Institute of Geography and Institute of Development Studies, Germany.
Prof. Singh has contributed mainly in the field of environment, regional development and value education. He has more than seventy publications to his credit in the form of research papers and policy papers etc. He is the author of 17 books and is currently working on his upcoming book entitled ‘Geography of India : Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow’. He has served as Vice President of the National Association of Geographers of India (NAGI) and at present he is the President of the Association of North Indian Geographers of which he was previously General Secretary for almost 20 years.
Prof. Singh is founder General Secretary of the Institute for Rural Eco-development which has been established with viewpoint of action oriented research for eco-development of rural areas. He is the executive editor of the ‘Journal of Eco development’ as well as ‘Uttar Bharat Bhugol Patrika’, published from the Dept. of Geography, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur.
Prof. Singh has notable experience of international programmes as well as of carrying out international research projects. He has widely travelled across Western Europe particularly Germany, Netherland, Poland, France, Italy, Japan etc. and participated in seminars and conferences under the guidance of Late Prof. K.H. Hottes, Ex-Director Institute of Geography and Institute of Development Research and Development Policy, Ruhr University, Bochum, Germany.
Prof. Singh has been organizing Prithavi Parva National Seminar every year on the eve of Vasant Panchami for the last 25 years and has enjoyed an engaging social and public life. He has been organizer of Purvanchal Swadeshi Mela, Gorakhpur with help of Swadeshi Jagarana Manch and Bhartiya Vipdan Vikas Kendra. He has been Convenor of Srva Samaveshi Sanskriti Kumbh and Bhoogol Kumbh at Prayagraj Kumbh Mela in 2018.
Prof. K.N. Singh is contributing to a great extent in other higher education assignments. He is Visitor’s /President of India’s nominee Executive Councilor of Central University Jharkhand, Ranchi and Governor’s nominee Executive Councilor of University of Allahabad (A Central University). He is serving as expert member of Research Degree Committee and Board of Studies in several Universities.
Prof. K.N. Singh has been honored by several awards such as distinguished citizen award of Geographer by Yuva Chetna Samiti, Gorakhpur and State award for excellent working as coordinator of National Service Scheme by Dept. of Higher Education, U.P. Government. He has been awarded best Geographer awardby Deccan Geographical Society of India, Pune in 2014 for unique contribution in domain of Geography and for able administration in the University system.
As Vice-Chancellor of Central University of South Bihar, Prof. K.N. Singh has mainly focusing on developing congenial learning environment, efficient and transparent administration and strengthening student support system in perspective of New Education Policy 2020. He has laid more emphasis on professional courses in light of era of globalization, liberalization and privatization as per need of 21st Century. Moreover, he is planning to focus on research and development on the principle of Integral Humanism propounded by Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay. Keeping the ideals of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, Prof. Singh firmly believes in the principle of think globally but act locally in light of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s principle of ‘Vocal for Local’ to achieve the goal of ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’.
